LCCT premium lounge

Hi we are a family of 4 traveling to KL 15 April 2009 to 25 April 2009 %26amp; have booked the premium lounge at LCCT for our departure flight home as we depart 00.10am %26amp; with 2 young ones 7 %26amp; 10 thought best to be prepared is this worth the money %26amp; would others have comments or suggestions regarding this.

We got such brilliant %26amp; prompt advice on our last post re haggling/taxi%26#39;s thought we%26#39;d try again with another question

LCCT premium lounge

The LCCT can be crowded and short of sitting / waiting space. Some the only respite some travelers have is to wait at the fast food restaurants (eg McD). With this, the premium lounge can be a way to rest, especially if you had a long day.

However, whether its worth it depends on how much you value what they provide.

The food and drink provided at the lounge is very basic (some cheap canned juice, really basic quality food). I would prefer a RM10 McD meal anytime.

The lounge itself is also not particularly luxurious.

It has seats and tables and newspapers where you can get away from the crowd.

They charged RM88 per adult and RM33 per child which I find horribly expensive for local standards. I wanted to walk out but they offered me a lower price so I took it. I think you should bargain with them for a better price since you have 4 pax.

LCCT premium lounge

Please note that the Premium Lounge at the LCCT is located on the ';landside'; i.e. before you clear immigration and security. Doesnt make much sense to me, but then the terminal itself doesnt make much sense any way.

Just for info..

There%26#39;s a Food Garden, ie Food Court, at the left side, far end of LCCT. (walk pass the shuttle bus to KL Sentral)

Presumely newly opened and not many know about it. It%26#39;s not crowded, clean, spacious, air-conditioned and operates 24/7. Food and drinks are considerably cheap for airport standard.(hot tea at MYR 1, rice/noodles at MYR 5) There are monitors display of flight departure and arrival info. PA system anounces when flight check-in counter opens.

Saw some traveller have their laptop cable plug into the wall sockets, but not sure if wi-fi is available.

Managed to kill 5 hours there while waiting for an early flight, departs at 6.20am . On another flight, after check in, went there for a snack before boarding.

The area around McDonald%26#39;s and the food outlets near the departure area were crowded and noisy, as mentioned by previous poster.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I think my best option is to check out the new food court first as this may suit us better %26amp; then decide weather we need the premium lounge or not will definately try to negotiate a better deal as suggested if we decide to.

Thanks

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette,

We recently traveled to KL and Penang with our two boys aged 7 %26amp; 10. We flew Air Asia from the Gold Coast. I have a couple of trip reports that may help you with your planning. There is a KL report (also a Penang if you are going there) and a report on the Air Asia flight itself. If you click on my profile you%26#39;ll see them around mid October.

All the advice above is accurate. The LCCT is crowded. We had no trouble finding four seats together - although no room to spread out. I imagine leaving that time of night there won%26#39;t be as many other Air Asia flights going out to other countries? The whole process of checking in/immigration takes some time - so you would really be better off eating outside and then getting through that process before relaxing inside.

On our return flight they took all Air Asia X passengers into a separate roped off area about 45 mins before boarding.

Send through any more questions.

Caroline.
