Le Meridien Hotel ?

Hi, friends,

We are thinking of staying at the Le Meridien at KK. Please advise if the hotel is within walking distance to Wawasan Plaza Shopping Complex, Centre Point Shopping Complex, Wisma Merdeka Shopping complex and KK Plaza. Are these shopping centres worth visiting ? What are they selling ? We understand there is a shopping mall near the hotel. If all the malls are selling similar things, we may only visit the one close to us. Are Ocean Seafood, Port View or Grand Portview near the hotel ?

Le Meridien Hotel ?

You may want to look at this google map: wikimapia.org/103949/Le-Meridien-Hotel. Hover over the squares to see the names of buildings and drag the map around to locate many of the places you are looking for. Le Meridian is in the middle of the main center area of KK. The places you are looking for are all within walking distance. CenterPoint is almost right next door (block below on map). Wawasan Plaza is about 4 large blocks down. Wisma Merdeka is about 5 large blocks up. We walked several times between this area and the Wisma Merdeka area. Didn%26#39;t take more than 15 minutes at most.

PortView is right across the street from the Meridian along the water. Ocean Seafood is down by the Wawasan Plaza.

Another place to try for a very different experience is the Filipino BBQ at the night market which is also right across the street from the Meridian. You have to eat with your hands but it is very different. Fresh grilled fish, rice, soda. Good write up about it in Lonely Planet Borneo.

Can%26#39;t help you with shopping. We visited the malls but didn%26#39;t do much shopping.

Le Meridien Hotel ?

Hi Fatoil

Facing the ocean, Centrepoint and Warisan Square is immediately to the left of the hotel. KK Plaza is a few blocks to the right, Wisma Merdeka further to the right and Wawasan Plaza far left on the end of the CBD.

Even the furthest malls, Wisma Merdekan on the one side and Wisma Wawasan on the other, are walking distance. The CBD is about 2km across - so it just depends on your pace and the heat or rain.

If you want to visit 1 shopping centre, I%26#39;d recommend Centrepoint and the adjoining Warasan Square - there you will have a choice of everything from niknaks and local trinkets in Centrepoint to high end brands in Warasan Square and everything in between. And yes, the malls tend to sell variations on the theme.

For electronics and computer paraphernalia, Karamunsing shopping centre (on the block just off the CBD) is the place. Wisma Merdeka is good for clothing, women%26#39;s apparel and tailors.

If you had to not waste time on any malls, I%26#39;d say skip KK Plaza and Wawasan Plaza, unless you%26#39;re walking past anyway, you may as well pop in.

Seafood restaurants are also on your doorstep.

Thanks so much, guys !!
