Malaysian Airlines special

Malaysian Airlines have announced business class specials from Perth to Rome via Kuala Lumpur for $5,434 each if 2 people travel and they will allow a stopover in KL. The planes are Boeing 777-200 (772). Has anyone travelled on this plane as I am curious to know if the seats are flat bed seats?

My return flight from HKG in Dec 05 was on a 777-200 (I travelled on C class). Lie-flat seats (not full flat) with electronic controller and massage feature.

As mentioned above these seats are flat bed seats, but at an angle. Its OK for sleeping (armrest retracts in that position) but a little too hard when seating in the upright position. Seating arrangement is 2+3+2 across and TV monitor is stored in the common armrest further reducing the seat width.

Not all flights to Perth are on the B777, some flights are using the Airbus 330 which does not have the new style flat bed seat. For a 5hr flight, the old craddle-style seats on the A330 are quite adequate unless you are taking the redeye and you really need to sleep.

Another point to note is that the Golden Lounge in Perth has been under renovation (not sure whether it has reopened by now) and inlieu of the lounge they hand out AUD20 voucher for use at the cafe which is really pathetic.
