Hi

There is no public transport on Langkawi. You will need to get taxis if you go anywhere.

Hi

I will be interested to know what you think of the Geopark Hotel. I have passed it loads of times and always wondered what it was like.

Please write a review on your return.

Lesley

We chose the Geopark Hotel rather tongue in cheek, via the internet, in view of the inexpensive room rates. Being elderly we prefer small inland hotels to the hustle and bustle of the beach resorts.

We were met at the airport by the hotel car and received a very friendly welcome at the hotel. Our superior room was very airy and spacious with traditional functional furniture. The bathroom was pretty and excellent, everything worked as it should. Our only criticism of this hotel was the rather tired towels and bed linen, clean but in need of replacement. There was a free courtesy car available for the 5 minute drive to the sister hotel Mutiara on the beach where we could freely use all their services. However, Geopark hotel was an oasis of calm in a most picturesque setting of the model oriental village. The copious breakfast was served a few yards away around the splash pool situated in a ';chinese pavilion'; garden.

We spent 18 days at the Geopark from mid February and had the hotel and pool to ourselves throughout our stay. During the daytime the village was animated by tourists coming to the cable car. we profited from the duty free shop for beer, wines %26amp; spirits and kept our room fridge nicely stocked. We rented a Wira 1.5 Automatic car for 14 days (no deposit %26amp; minimal paperwork)at only 350RM per week which enabled us to explore the island at our leisure. Often of an evening we would drive to a local restaurant the Wadira Corner only 15 minutes away up the Teluk Yu Road towards the Craft Complex. The food belied the appearance of the restaurant, a meal for two of King prawns, Chinese fried rice, fried mixedvegetables, 600gr. steamed sea bass and 4 cups of lemon tea cost a total of 30RM (£5.75!) For us, this holiday has been superb, allowing us to meet the local folks on the one hand but to enjoy Mutiara beach resort and other super beaches as %26amp; when.

Langkawi is an exotic paradise, we shall return to the Geopark Hotel again on our next visit.

We profited from the invaluable advice of Lesley, Eva %26amp; Baskie before coming here and I would like to thank them all for that.

Hi

Nice to hear from you and that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay on Langkawi.

I was interested to hear about the Geopark Hotel - I never realised it was related to Mutiara! Pleased you made good use of the duty free shop in the Oriental Village!

Best wishes

Lesley
