We will be arriving by train at Butterworth Station, can anyone advise how best to travel to our hotel in Georgetown, are there taxis available from the ferry pier on Penang? Grateful for any advice, thank you.
Butterworth to Georgetown hotel.
From Butterworth train station, follow the walkway to the ferry terminal(about 5-7 mins).
Take the ferry over to Penang island (about 20mins).
Once you reach Penang side, there are taxis, but you will need to bargain with them on the fare.
Public buses(Rapid) terminal is right in front of the ferry terminal and I think the fare is about RM1.
Butterworth to Georgetown hotel.

If you hotel is actually IN Georgetown (rather than Gurney Drive area) .... a hotel like Traders, Cititel, Citybay View etc - the taxi fare is a maximum of rm10 - but I have managed to get a taxi for rm6. getting the mid point (rm8) would be a good result for you.
