Would appreciate advice on which hotel to book for NYE for myself, husband and 7 year old. Will be there for a few days to look around. Does KL shut for any period over New Year%26#39;s? Thanks

100% Traders as you will have a ringside view to the fireworks at the Petronas Towers.
No much closes in KL for the Christmas / New Year holiday period. Its business as usual, unlike at home.

Exactly; only if you get the Parkview Rooms/Suites that faces the twin towers. It also depends on which room you get at the JW Marriot; the rooms higher up facing the twin towers are also good for the fireworks (they will start the fireworks show near the twin towers park).

JW Marriott no longer have any views of the towers. Their rooms and club room had wonderful views, but no longer.
The Pavillion Mall has built 2 very high towers [that are much taller than the JW Marriott] over the mall building for a hotel and residences, these completly obliterate any views, although you might get a very, very partial view of a bit of a tower and it will be nothing compared to Traders. Same [just about] for the Westin.
The Traders has the best view in the house!!
