Penang Times Square

A couple of my food blogger friends have visited.... seems to be Ok - but no one gives it a %26#39;wow%26#39; factor vote.

Maybe, they need time to settle down and refine the service etc.

For info, the buffet menu is not available until March 20th.

Penang Times Square

Thanks eso, maybe u r right.I heard it was really packed when it was opened n probably the service was affected. Some of my friends highly recommended to me so i feel i will give it a try this weekend.Seems they have a great interior too.Well i hope the food will be better as i rarely take japanese food but im a devout chinese food lover.I had asked for a menu fax from them n looks like they have a wide range of chinese food too.So i guess i should be well fed i think. Thanks again for yr info. But any other updates from yr friends will be appreciated.

BTW do they have a sushi counter?n sake!!!some of my japanese coworkers just want to know.

Sorry, don%26#39;t know about the sushi counter - BUT, I do know that there are a number of VERY good Japanese rest%26#39;s in Penang.

you can message Tam if you have questions - I know this group love Japanese food.

LOL - They love ALL food.

Previously one of the favourite is Tao cuisine but i think the food had deteriorated alot not only i had personally tasted it but also most of my friends who had been there said that the food had become worse as most of the kitchen staff had gone to Havendelights. Now the food at Tao cuisine is been prepared mainly by nepali workers.I heard that Havendelights had a very nice see through glass for the kitchen n we could see the japanese n hongkong master chefs at work. Also the sushi counter has a sushi expert from japan preparing the sushi on ye request,n demonstrating the moves n way to prepare for u.I was there last night n the crowd is really good for a weekday. Most of the tables r filled up n the interior is fabulous .Also the food is really good. The best i had tasted so far as they r prepared by master chefs n not chefs from nepal like some restaurant. One of the restaurant i been recently Jurin at Gurney to my surprise was prepared by Nepali n the food was awful. In Havendelights they r prepared fresh n cooked at that instant,no precook food like at KimGary.U actually can se the chefs cooking yr food. Its a really delightful experience. But as u had said the waiters r still new so service still needs tuning up but i can still the waiters r trying they best to please.Well done to Havendelights on my first visit.Im sure i will return soon for the 300 over more tasty dishes on offer.Eso u should really try there but my advice is get a reservation done on weekends.

Correct me if I%26#39;m wrong, isn%26#39;t XinTianDi in Shanghai owned by a Malaysian, so now he%26#39;s invested in Penang now?

Yes u r right.Im usually in Shanghai n used to patron the one at Shanghai. It seems the owner has a main branch in Shanghai n one in Hongkong. From the newspapers reports it seems they r venturing to KL n Singapore by next year.Cheers.

When did Times Square in Penang open ?

When i was there last night only a handful of shops r opened .Few r under renovations but the mall is already opened for business.Heard that the official lauching for the mall is mid year.A gift shop is coming up i think it s chocolate ,some woman acessories shop n hair saloon.Heard that Sunshine hyper mart will take up the top floor. The mall is great beautiful n cosy with classy interior.Hope more shoips will open soon.

got a confirmation that the buffet at Havendelights will start from 20th as Eso had said earlier.I ll go there again.
