Reliance Travel Agent to Europe

Dear all traveller in Malaysia,

Just wanted to keep all of you inform that we just went Europe 10days 8 nite trip to Europe thru a local travel agent-Reliance travel. Overall the agent service in term of food, accomodation, schedule arrangement is just very average. We thought paying extra to a good reputation agent is actually not much different than going thru others local travel agent. So, do not worry to go with others travel agent even if their price is low(of course you have to weight it).

Anyone wanted to find out more is welcome.

Regards,

KS

Reliance Travel Agent to Europe

Dear Vivian,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, its a 10 days 8 night trip. What actually shocked us is the confirmed hotel stayed was given to us 3 days before departured, but on the day of departure, the tour leader given us a different name list of hotel stayed, I dont think they only have confirmed hotel name on the last day of departure, I am sure they have it much earlier,so why dont they give us 3 days earlier? To avoid complaining?

And most of the hotel is downgraded from what they 3 days from departure, if they say HOTEL IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE due to fully book or whatever, they should upgrade the hotel instead of downgrade.

Also one of the hotel in Switzerland is really upsetting, I have personally email to Reliance just after my booking (about 2 months before departure) that this hotel is not even a 2 star hotel and request them to make some arrangement, as expected, they is not reply and we still stay at the same hotel. The hotel lobby cannnot even load in all our group member luaggage!

Most of the group member is actually not happy but we just keep it during the trip as we do not want our mood to be spoiled. Also we do not see any special reason we should stick with Reliance.

One of my friend went to Japan during the same perioed under other travel agent and she is very happy with all the arrangement.

Improvement has to be really done.

Thanks

Mandy Wong

My sis has recently booked a 10-day Popular Europe trip with Penang%26#39;s Reliance Travel for my family trip (in early Sep 08). So far, their pre-sales has been pretty good. This%26#39;s my first trip with Reliance, hope no disappointment. I%26#39;ll update you all after the trip.

Maruko,

You are right, normally the pre sales is good. And its smart to book earlier as they will increase the price by RM200 to RM400 per head when closer to closing date. When is your travelling? I am suppose if this is your first time I could help you for all your queries.

The most concern is Reliance only give final hotel name confirmation on the day of departure, they give us a different name list before it, and most of it not the same and the actual hotel is lower grade than stated in website. Of course, it still can be accomaodate if you are not too fussy.

KSWong

Thanks KS : )

I backpacked to Europe for a 39-day holiday when I was an undergraduate (with my then bf), I%26#39;m ok with the local food and accommodation.

As this is my family trip, i hope that the hotels are reasonably clean and maintained (I know European%26#39;s rating of hotel is always one star lower than us, thus I expect to see a 3-star hotel if it%26#39;s publish as 4-star, and lots of old buildings-converted hotels too).

You are right, I heard my sis mentioning about RM400 early bird discount, this was one of the main keys in quick decision-making.

I鈥檝e posted some queries on optional tours %26amp; on-our-own meals (not sure how much EU, Swiss Franc %26amp; English Pound to bring) to my sis for her to check with Reliance.

By the way, any girl鈥檚 stuff that is worth buying from there? So far, Paris鈥檚 LV is in my list, not sure about perfume though, any recommendation on any must-buy?

Hi,Maruko,

On expenses wise its depand on how much your sister prepared to spend, you may bring only Euro dollar and some Pounds, as in Switzerland, most of them accept Euro Dollar for transaction.

For girl stuff, Paris LV is definitely a must buy, but advise you to have a look at the model and price in Malaysia and decide which one you wanted to buy before you go, than you could make a good comparison when you go there by just give the model and code no. You may surprise by those crowd in LV shop, and you will not have much time to pick and choose. I bought one and after tax deduction is about RM700+ cheaper than in Starhill KL.

Others thing like Belgium Chocolate, Swiss Potato skin peeler, France Salvatone Ferragomi Shoes, is in could buy list.

Dont forget to get one magnet fridge from every country, its reminds me of my journey when I saw those cute and nice magnet.

C ya,

KS

Dear KS,

We plan to look for a good package %26amp; better service agent for this year Europe trip in Matta Fair, especially on the month of Oct%26#39;08 or Dec%26#39;08. Any suggestions?

Thanks %26amp; regards,

VCWong

Hi VC,

As I said I tried Reliance last year but it was below expectation especially in hotel arrangement. My friend told me she went to Japan last year with Pearl Holiday and suprisingly above her expectation with this small travel agent. Other than that youy may try Malaysian Harmony as they are quite strong in Europe trip as well. Do not look at package price only, consider on how many meals included, as spending in food in Europe is about RM50 per person even a simple meal. Also must consider how their travelling routine, for example GTT is taking a very long travel journey from one place to another. The most important is it has to be Malaysia Airline DIRECT FLIGHT, with 11-12 hours in the flight, direct flight will allowed us to rest. You be suffering if you have to transit here and there with all the luaggages. By the way, which part are you from Selangor?

bye,

KSWong

Thanks KS.

Now, we are comparing the itinerary from GTT %26amp; BESTTOUR travel agent.

What are the special interest place must visit?

Is the weather very cold on 1 week of December? BTW, I came from Puchong.

Thanks %26amp; Regards,

VCWong

Hi VC,

Make sure you compared. But dont think GTT is going by direct flight, if go by transit flight, lots of time will be wasted in transitting. Bear in mind, the journey start straight away when you get down from the plane.

One of the must is make sure the tour leader bring you up to Eiffel Tower second floor, my friend failed to go up whe she went there as the tour leader given excuse ';too many people queueing';. Please insist the tour guide will bring you all up, I was able to go up and the queue is not long for group visitors.

Another is Mount. Tiltis in Swizerland, make sure you bring you camera with full battery, the scenery, all houses, trees cover by snow, just like in movie ';Nania';. Its worth the whole trip. This is one of the best places.

Also you may propose tour guide bring you to Christmas night market in German, its fun, trying Germany hot wine and large hot dog.

The weather is very very very cold, you have to make sure you long john, cap, thick jacket is always with you.

Anything else please welcome to find out.

Regards,

KS Wong
