advice and help please

Hi

Looking a bookin a flight with air asia from Melbourne for next month and staying 5 days.

Do we need visas for malaysia?

would also like some advice on hotels,we are a couple in our forties something mid range is fine would like a pool if its hot. What will the weather be like in April? We intend to do a bit of sight seeing, any recommendations greatly apprecitaed. I think we can leave most the shopping till the evenings so would like a hotel in walking distance to good shopping and eateries ( we are both fit so walking a reasonable distance is fine with us)In the markets do have have similar stuff to Thailand and Bali.Do they have copy DVDs if so how much would you pay do they have good copy bags and stuff as well

Thanks to any one that replies

Cheers Deb

Hi Deb,

You don%26#39;t need visas for Malaysia. You just need to make sure your passport is valid for six months after your departure.

You should look at staying somewhere around the Bukit Bintang area. It is a wonderful, colorful area with heaps to do within walking distance. There are many, many hotel choices around this area. We stayed at the Park Royal Hotel and were very happy with it. Very central, near the monorail station, next to and across the road from a number of large shopping centers.

Maybe if you have a look at the list of hotels on the left hand column and narrow the selection down to three or four - you will get some more specific advice from forum members.

We found the markets similar to Thailand - but also different. I would say the selection of copy handbags is greater in KL. There is certainly far more copy %26#39;brand name%26#39; products then we have seen in Thailand markets. The usual selection of copy T.Shirts, DVD%26#39;s etc. We bought all of our DVD%26#39;s in Penang for about 5 MYR - I think they were cheaper there than KL. About 10 MYR I think. Someone else may be able to give you advice about this.

I have a KL Trip report from last October - you%26#39;ll see it if you click on my profile and scroll back. There may be some things of interest to you in that.

Caroline.

Hi Deb

We are staying in KL on our way home from Thailand in June and managed to book the Novotel KL in the Accor sale the other week. Other than there we were looking at Royal Bintang or some of the 3-4 star hotels in Bukit Bintang. What price range are you thinking?

Have a look at this post from last week with ideas for things to do. Lee

Hi,

With regards to copy DVDs - we arrived back from KL last week, and we were paying RM10 per DVD and most places were offering one free if you bought 5. There seemed to be a few places around selling them quite openly, but others will usher you into a back room.

Level 3 at Sungei Wang had quite a few sellers. And I spotted another selling openly over at Times Square - cant recall what level that was though...possibly level 4 or 5. The sellers we dealt with were very good at telling us which copies were good and which werent, and were quite happy to put them on the tv to show us the quality of anything we wanted to check.

Hope that helps.

1. You do not need a visa

2. Look for hotels within Bukit Bintang area / near LRT / monorail stops

3. Copy DVDs around RM 10..

4. Weather in April will be hot and humid ..expect occassional rain as well

Have Fun !
