Borneo Beachouse

Have been looking at this backpackers accomodation. Looks really nice. It%26#39;s at Tanjung Aru, just near the food stalls. I have read the 2 reviews here on trip advisor and they sound promising but I checked the posters and they have both only made the one post, being a review on this place. This always makes me wonder about their authenticity?

We are looking for a place for our first night before heading to Sandakan and this seems to fit the bill.

One of the reviews states that it is 30mins from KK city, is this correct? Slow walking maybe?

I have read that the Tanjung Aru food stalls are great and a good place to have dinner and watch the sunset, is this right?

Anyone stayed here or any locals who know about this place? Your comments/observations would be appreciated :-)

Borneo Beachouse

Borneo Beachouse is more like a guest house than it is a backpackers and it attracts a very friendly crowd.

We play ultimate frisbee on the field across from it on Sundays and on the nearby beach during the week - people who stay there often join us for a game and we%26#39;ve ended up having a drink with more than a few.

The staff are top notch and the proprietor, Richie, usually personally takes his guests around and for a drink.

It%26#39;s 2 minutes walk from First Beach - lots of hawkers food, Mediterranean Restaurant, seafood and a bar and yes, views of Sabah%26#39;s best sunsets.

30 minutes from town? Uhm, a fast walk, maybe a run - otherwise it%26#39;s a 10 minute taxi, or during the day you can also take the public bus (the staff will help you with that one).

10 minutes walk down the road is Tanjung Aru town - there%26#39;s a small shopping complex and lots of little restaurants where you can eat local food and Sunny Supermarket where you can stock up on supplies, most notably wine and beer :)

And Borneo Beachouse is also just about 500m down the road from Terminal 2.
