Hotel in town advice - with kids aged 6 and 8....

I have read and read, and have realised that Penang is not really a beach holiday place. That is fine, I%26#39;m glad to realise it now! We will also be going to Langkawi so we can be beachy there.

So this would mean staying in Georgetown then. I have looked at some of the hotels and remain unsure about what to do.

We%26#39;d be there over New Year so prices are increased which is a problem. I like the look of the G Hotel but it%26#39;s very expensive. I have checked Traders and Evergreen Laurel, and they seem okay.

We would need a 2 bedroom suite or 2 interconnecting rooms; decent pool; walking distance to food.

Any comments or ideas?

Traders, whilst is has children as guests, is a business hotel and not really set up to accommodate them - esp. with regard to your needs for bedrooms.

Cannot comment on the Evergreen.

What about City Bayview - good location and has a pool. Price is mid range.

Hi there,

We stayed at the Bayview Beach Resort. I really enjoyed the pool area and since it is on the beach you have a choice of water sports as well.

Rooms are also inter connecting and it is within walking distance to the night bazaar and other attractions.

G hotel is great if you love to be next to a shopping mall and Gurney Drive hawker center. Evergreen is about 3 blocks further away from G Hotel, there is no beach to swim at these hotels. yet, it%26#39;s really nice the place is in between Batu Fehringi and Georgetown, about 20 mins. each direction. I stayed at G Hotel w/a small child %26amp; loved the convenience access to a mall. I got a good deal through Ping Anchorage Travel. You might want to check this hotel suites on Gurney drive, about 5 short blocks to the mall %26amp; G hotel.

Thanks everyone.

The Guerney Hotel 2 bedroom suites seem perfect-will be looking into that further.
