langkayan island accomodation & borneo

Hi

We are looking into booking Borneo for our honeymoon, not til August 2009 but we really want to do our homework and book something quite special.

We want to see orangutans and thanks to tripadvisor, are now in the knowledge that Sepilok Oranguntan sanctury is the place to go.

however, we would rather do a primate safari/tour for perhaps 3days/2nights, then are looking into going to an island for a well earned break. We are considering the possibility of Langkayan island. however, i cant find much on accomodation.

Does anyone have any accomodation recommendations for Langkayan island, and also for any private safaris/tours of orangutans???

As it is our honeymoon, we want to make it rather special, as opposed to just going to the sanctury at feeding time, my fiance is ';primate mad'; and would love to do something more indepth than just watching them feed. IS there anywhere that allows feeding?

Any other island suggestions welcome. Are we limited due to the time of year, august?

I want our visit to an island to be excellent standard of accomodation, with turquoise waters and white sand. Are we best to perhaps head west to another island such as Langkawi or elsewhere? Im open to all suggestions.....trip advisor has been my travel bible for years now so thanks in advance for all suggestions and recommendations!

As far as I%26#39;m concerned, visitors are not allowed to feed the orangutans. What I could recommend for you to do a voluntary work at the rehabilitation centre which would allow you to come closer to them. But normally that would require longer period of time. Anyway, you could get in touch with the senior wildlife officer regarding on your request. She%26#39;s a very friendly and helpful person. I%26#39;ll try to get her email and post in your inbox message later.

Lankayan is a beautiful, breath-taking island. I would highly recommended it. Do your early reservation and do inform them that you are there for your honeymoon. Their staffs are friendly and the services are good. You would love it there.

Also, for the first part we%26#39;re staying at the Rasa Ria in Kota Kinabalu which looks amazing and has it%26#39;s own nature reserve and baby orangutan orphanage. You can do nature walks etc.

We%26#39;ve booked a 2 day trip as well which goes to Sepilok and turtle island and also a few other places where you see probiscus monkeys. We booked that through trailfinders who were really helpful. I would recommend!
