buying a campervan in Kuala Lumpur

I am researching the feasibility of purchasing a campervan in Kuala Lumpur and then taking off around Malaysia and beyond.

Has anyone done it and any advices appreciated.

I know it has been done before but the vehicle was on a round the world trip. In all our travels, and 3 years of living in Malaysia I never saw one campervan.

We have driven from Malaysia to Thailand in our own vehilce and that can be done easily provided you have the necessary papers..insurance, ownership, rego etc.

I%26#39;ve never seen a campervan in S E Asia, be it rented or privately owned. Not even sure if they%26#39;re sold here. The biggest non-commercial vehicles we have are MPVs or multi purpose vehicles (those 8 or 10 seater types). Maybe it%26#39;s because accommodation%26#39;s comparatively cheap? Point to note when you%26#39;re thinking of renting a car: you can%26#39;t drive it into Singapore. I%26#39;m not sure about Thailand.
