can anybody reccommned and reasonable b%26amp;b in a nice spot? never been to Langkawi before and want to make the most without staying in a big hotel/resort we want to feel like we are staying in Malaysia not just a hotel complex.

Have a look at the Beach Garden Resort.

If you can afford it look at Casa Del Mar, which is next door, but these 2 are pantai Cenang, which is the main tourist area of the island.

You could try Fox Hill.

I%26#39;m sure that the Langkawi locals will be able to give more advice.

if you really want to ';feel'; Malaysia, make a little tour to the nearby island Tuba. That little island has almost no tourism and is really beautiful. Although a lot of rubbish everywhere. There is a local restaurant, very simple, damn cheap and delicious! Rent a bike to drive around (takes about one hour).

Best way to get there: there is a small jetty next to the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club in Kuah. Watertaxi costs 5 RM one way / head.
