Langkawi Markets

I heard that Langkawi holds markets/night markets at different locations throughout the week. Does anyone know the schedule for where the markets are held or is this something we will easily learn when we arrive on the island?

Thanks

Langkawi Markets

Hi

These markets are more for locals and not really geared for tourists. They sell things like fruit/veg, household stuff and shoes so I hope you are not expecting fake DVD%26#39;s, handbags and tee-shirts!

I enjoy going to the one in Kuah Town which is on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, as I like to sample the food they cook there.

I have a schedule of the different locations but it%26#39;s at home. I will post this later for you unless someone replies in the meantime.

Langkawi Markets

Thank you for this. I thought there would be more touristy things to be bought. Nevermind, i will make sure we stock up in KL :)

Hi

Yes, the markets in KL are great. You will be able to buy lots of stuff there.

Lesley

Just in case if you are still interested:

Monday - Jalan Makam Mahsuri Lama (off Ulu Melaka)

Tuesday - Kedawang

Wednesday - Kuah

Thursday - Bohor Tempoyak (off Pantai Cenang)

Friday - Padang Lalang (Near Tanjung Rhu)

Saturday - Kuah

Sunday - Padang Matsirat (1km from Airport)

Daily Tourist Night Market in Chenang

Diagonally opposite Underwater World and directly opposite Papadam Ria Indian Cuisine Restaurant.

Hi Bas

Thanks for that. I have lost my list of market dates.

What is the tourist market in Pantai Cenang like?

Hope you are all ok.

Lesley

Hey Lesley,

No problemo! We are here to help.

We%26#39;re okay with your blessings Lesley.

The one in Chenang is nicer actually. More touristy but nice.

See you soon!

This night market that moves around the island, I have always thought the same thing, much like many tourists that have been. I used to overhear them saying ';what a waste of time';.

Greasy fried food, secondhand shoes (stolen - think mosque), crappy toys from China, second rate veg, Islamic materials and overall nothing of interest to a traveller.

Try Petaling Street while you are in KL. Jalan Petaling.

Give the night market on Langkawi a miss unless you are really stuck for something to do. Boring !

Do not pay just to go there.

I have just come back from Langkawi and we loved the night market in Kuah. It was interesting to sample all the foods - and we fell in love with the ';donats';!!

Thanx. Langkawi is hoping to see you again here...
