Taxi rates and safety in KL

Can anyone tell me how much it would cost in taxi to go

1. From Puduraya Bust Terminal to Heritage Station Hotel (Old railway station)

2. From KL Sentral to Jalan Duta (To Duta Vista Resorts).

Is it safe to catch a taxi around 9pm from KL Sentral to Jalan Duta area? We are 5 adults with lots of luggage.

It is safe to catch a taxi from KL Sentral to Jalan Duta...but not safe for the taxi (imagine a taxi with 5 adults and tons of luggage)...haha you%26#39;ll need 2-3 taxi%26#39;s for this.

No worries.

However, from Puduraya bus terminal, the taxi%26#39;s normally do not follow the meter, especially so for those waiting at the roadside., so expect to pay a premium (although it is illegal to not use the meter). The distance is close, maybe few kilometers. I would say they will try to get you to pay RM 20 or so per cab. The actual fare, will be way less than RM10.

If you have patience, walk up or down the road, away from the station and try to hail a cab off the street. You have a better chance of getting someone willing to use the meter.

I agree with maic. But with 5 adults, try the limo mpvs they have available after the exit from the klia express, that is, I am assuming you are coming via klia express from the airport. Make the payment at the counters and ask the uniformed personnels.

As for general safety, for the benefit of other ';tripadvisorators';, Puduraya Bus Terminal has less security for foreigners in the sense the place is quite packed sometimes and one can get pretty confused in the place. Pickpocketing often happens (inside and on the bridge) and bags get snatched at the roadside out of the station by the roads (easy getaways, everyday occurrence).

Anyways, advice is quite similar to many other countries. Take care of your luggages (don%26#39;t leave them anywhere, the thugs are not necessarily Malaysians) and try to eliminate handbags (bag snatching has generated much concern recently). Don%26#39;t flash your money everywhere and don%26#39;t exchange the currency at dingy places.
