Any idea when this place is supposed to opend for business, as we used to love it during the Mandarin Singapore days??

I believe the OP is refering to the former Mutiara Beach Resort in Penang which was managed by the same group as the Mandarin Singapore (now known as Meritus Mandarin).
The resort was closed for quite a while before renovations commenced and is supposed to be rebranded as an Inter Continental resort when it reopens. However midway during the refurbishments the owner of the property wanted to convert some rooms to apartments for sale. If I am not wrong they changed their mind again later on and scrapped the plans for apartments altogether. Hence the longer than expected delays, dont expect it to reopen anytime soon ...
The Mutiara Penang has been closed for Years! They say its closed for ';refurbishment';; but the hotel is just standing there, no refurbishment activity at sight; so I guess, you might have to wait several more years.
