Hi
I%26#39;m travelling with my husband and 2 small children to Kuala Lumpur and we are flying from Melbourne direct to the Air Asia LCCT. We have no idea how we are going to get from the airport to our hotel. We are staying at Traders.
Does anyone have any suggestions on the most convenient way to travel, given we have young children (ages 18mth and 4 yr)?
We are also hoping for a recommendation on a decent hotel/resort close to the LCCT for our last night. We are arriving back in KL from KK and need a place close by - we don%26#39;t want to travel back into the city, when we have to leave mid-morning the next day.
Any ideas??
Thanks
Monica
Transfer from LCCT to KL hotel with 2 small kids
Hi monica
Take a cab from LCCT to your hotel.
As you exit the custom, walk toward the taxi counter, buy a prepaid taxi to your hotel( the price will be fixed)
Suggest to stay at tunehotel.com ,you can book ahead online(this is a brand new hotel operated by AA group.
Walking distance to LCCT terminal.
Cheers
Transfer from LCCT to KL hotel with 2 small kids
Hi Monica,
Get a taxi from the LCCT. There is a taxi counter on your right, just before you exit the LCCT building. It is run by a coupon system - from memory it is 68MYR to the city centre. The cabs leave from just outside the terminal.
I have a trip report on our time in KL with our two boys. If you click on my profile you%26#39;ll see it around mid October. Our children are slightly older than yours, but it may still give you some ideas.
I also posted a report on our air asia X flight from the Gold Coast around the same time. There may be some info in there to help as well.
Happy planning.
Caroline.
Hi Monica,
To get to Traders Hotel from LCCT,the convenient way, particularly with your young children, will be by a taxi, which operates on a fixed coupon rate.
This coupon can be purchased at the taxi service kiosk located at the arrival hall. When purchasing just state your destination, viz Traders Hotel-KLCC.
As there are four of you,and with luggages, suggest to take the family/premier category taxi,of which the taxi coupon rate,is around RM90.80 (the one mentioned, just under RM70,is for the budget category taxi,of which if you feel is okay in terms of comfort, and can fit your luggage, then it is also another option, and can save money- budget category taxi boot, can only take max.two pieces of 53cm trolley bag-as the taxi runs on LPG,so boot space is constrained by the LPG cylinder.
On your return leg from KK,of which you require a place close to the LCCT for a night;well,as advised, the closest will be Tune Hotel, which is just under 10 minutes walk to LCCT;however, the room is quite compact, and may not fit all four of you,and I do not think they have adjoining rooms;though from a dummy booking, room rates is under RM40.00/room;inclusive of air cond credits for 12 hours and towel rental. They will open for operation on March 20,2009,barring unforseen circumstances.
Another hotel which is also close to LCCT,and can be confirmed have rooms size to accommodate all four, will be Concorde Inn.It is 15 minutes drive from LCCT,and taxi fare is just under RM40.00.
So,to sum it up:-
A). Budget/Premier fixed rate coupon from LCCT to Traders;
b). Concorde Inn hotel for return leg accommodation.
Have a safe and pleasant holiday in Sabah and KL.
Hi
100% get a taxi! So much easier. I will cost more than the bus, but the convience with small children will save you a lot of hassle.
As long as you have a reasonably amount of bags that go into the trunk of a car it will cost about 70-90myr, although I would suggest you get a premier cab (90myr) which is slightly larger.
The hotels nearest LCCT will be Tune (when it opens) and Concorde.
Have fun in KK
I would not consider walking from the international arrival hall to the (yet to be open) Tune Hotel. It may appear quite close when you travel in a car, but will probably take at least 15-20min under the tropical heat if you walk.
