hi,
we have limited time and need to choose between:
1.a day trip to tunku abdul%26#39;s main island,
2.a day trip to the beaufort wetlands
3.overnight at sandakan/sukau.
we are interested only in seeing the wildlife and birds (not in snorkelling).
which of the three above would be the best way of doign this.
also i%26#39;m travelling with people in their late 50s who aren%26#39;t exactly backpackers/roughing it out
tunku abdul or beaufort wetlandsif are not going to enjoy the beach, the clear waters and snorkeling, #1 is pretty much out. so you now just have to choose between #2 and #3.
tunku abdul or beaufort wetlandsthanks.
has anoyone been to either 2/3?any reccomendations on which is better and have higher chance of spotting all the wildlife?
i would go for Sukau.
Hi ativakUK - I%26#39;d also recommend #3 as honestly, you%26#39;re the first person I remember specifically asking about the Beaufort wetlands.
Who knows, it could be a hidden gem, but I think your chances are much better in Sukau.
Whilst in Sandakan you may as well do Sepilok Orang Utan sanctuary too - if you want to stretch it another night, why not consider a stay-over on Turtle Island and see the turtles come ashore to lay their eggs :)
