Please could someone tell me how the journey is from Penang to Langkawi by ferry? For example, is it too much hassle for people to take large suitcases or is it better to go Air Asia? Also what are the facilities e.g. toilets, refreshments etc.(if any)? Any information would be much appreciated.
Penang to Langkawi Ferry/Boat

You can%26#39;t fly Penang / Langkawi with Air Asia, so guess it would be a lot of hassle as you would have to do 2 flights.
You can however, fly with Fire Flyz, a budget subsiduary of Malaysia. Like most low cost airlines they do have tight restrictions on baggage. The flight takes 20mins plus check in time, cost about 40myr and the planes have toilets! Down side - small airline does cancel flights sometimes and you have to be at the airport at least 1 hour before you fly.
The ferry operated by Langakwi Ferry, from Penang to Lanagkwi takes 3 hours, costs 60myr and you can take as much baggage as you want as you have to carry it on and off the boat. There are toilets on board (not the best but not the worse) but no refreshments - you can take your own. Ferries leave at 0800 directly to Langkawi and 0815 via Pulau Payar. Down side - sea can be a bit rough some times.
