After all the advice TA%26#39;s has provided we have finally booked on Air Asia and have booked to stay in deluxe apartment at Prince Hotel.
I now need some more advice on the following..
How much should we expect to pay from LCCT to Prince hotel in a taxi?
As i will be having my 40th birthday while we are there would like to go to a nice restaurant for dinner - can anyone suggest somewhere(not seafood)?
We are keen to have massages etc each day so does anyone have a favourite inexpensive place they could recommend.
Also, wanting to buy shoes, copy bags, dvds sunnies, tiffany etc and also kids clothes - where are we best to go. Is there any Gap stores in KL for kids?
Any other suggestions appreciated.

Hi
taxis you will pay 70-90myr depending if you go for budget or premier taxis. Buy your voucher from the taxi desk.
A nice restaurant is the revolving one at KL Menara. Its not the most fabulous food in KL, but it has the views to die for and would be a memoriable 40th! SERI ANGKASA, Revolving Restaurant: +603 2145 1833 or e-mail enquiries@serimelayu.com also check out their website for all the information you need http://www.menarakl.com.my/. Views from the Tower are far superior to those from skybridge of the Petronas Towers.
Otherwise, we love the restaurants in the Starhill Gallery for some fabulous food. They are very nice restaurants in a totally top end mall! Several are rated the top in KL. http://www.starhillgallery.com/ and select feast
The Tamarind group of restaurants are good as well, http://www.tamarindrestaurants.com/ for phone numbers.
Bukit Bintang – A great place for shopping and eating. Sungai Wang/BB Plaza [500 shops and a real Malaysian treat of all sorts of bargains hidden away, great for shoes, bags, pedicures, facials etc], KL Plaza, Times Square [which also has a theme park], Pavillion [Mid to top end shops and also the best food court which is reasonably priced, very good mix of restaurants plus a supermarket], Lot 10 [also has a supermarket], Starhill Gallery [very top end but some very nice reasonably priced restaurants], Plaza Low Yat [IT mall], YTL Plaza, BB Park, Imbi Plaza for shopping, plus there are many open fronted shops which offer some great bargains and are identical to those in Chinatown and then there is Jalan Alor is a great place for street food and many restaurants along Bukit Bintang. Ain Arabia or Arab Street is just around the corner in Jalan Berangan, the shopping haven and food and culture of the Arabs in Malaysia. No end to the variety at Bukit Bintang.
The lower end of Bukit Bintang has loads of cheap massage places, mainly back and reflexology. Don%26#39;t know how good it it. We use the ones in places like Sungai Wang for facials and pedicures and tend to avoid the massages, as a bad cheap massage daily is worse than a good expensive once a week!
Replica stuff will be in Chinatown / Petaling Street or the open fronted shops in Bukit Bintang near Royal Bintang Hotel.
Have a great one.
For Kids clothes i usually shop from Mothercare, or from Dept stores like Isetan %26amp; Parkson ( they sell local brands and internation names like Benneton, adams, Oksh Kosh etc) There are Gap stores in KL for both Adults and kids at the Pavillion, KLCC, Mega mall %26amp; 1 Utama.
Shoes in KL are not very expensive good local stores are Vincci, Nose, Voir, Carlo Rino etc. You can also find great deals at the dept stores like Isetan and Parkson.
Copy bags %26amp; sunnies %26amp; DVDs you can get at China Town.
Dreamhol, try the Blind masseurs at Brickfields (nearest stop KL Sentral monorail). They are very good and inexpensive; charging usually RM 10 onwards for a quick reflexology and RM 30 for a full body massage. The masseurs are all trained by the Malaysian Association for the Blind MAB (also in Brickfields) at the St. Nicholas training school for the Blind in Penang, so they are very professional and very good. Nothing fancy there; no fancy oils or music CDs; but they are much better than some hotel expensive and untrained masseurs. Visit the area for really good and cheap Indian curries; take a walk down to the Indian temples and try the massage at the Blind Master Massage Center at Jalan Tun Sambanthan 4 (right opposite YMCA).
For dinner try Tarbush (Middle eastern) or Enak Enak at Starhill Gallery. Opposite you at the Pavilllion we tried the following and all were really good but Starhill is more upmarket and special than any of these ones.
Bombay Spice - there is a casula one and a more upmarkey one. We tried the casual one on a lower floor and it was good. (Probably not a 40th though but good for another night)
Madam Kwans - good
Calos Cantina - cheap drinks, happy hour specials on beer, not bad mexican, good atmosphere, funny staff (humorous)
Michaelangelos was prety good, good atmosphere
Upstairs we went to a nice Vietanmese restaurant - can%26#39;t remember the name but it was also good. Its interesting that some of the restaurants upstairs in the Pavillion are the same price as the less decked out places downstairs - so do your homework. The upstairs restaruants all look good but the store connecxtion are where Michaelangelos etc has lot of atmoshere in the evening and they restaurants are more open air street feel. But as I said special occasion -- definitely go to Starhill gallery. Its got the wow wow factor. -And they aslo have at least 10 gorgeous restautrants to choose from.
In the Pavillion you can go to Kenko Spa for a massage - even a fish massage.
Pleasnty of fashion at Pavillion - there could have been a Gap store there. I know I did see one somewhere.
Any of the malls long Bukit Bintang - you will be spoilt for choice.
How big are your feet? Malaysian women love their shos but they are tiny and have little feet - Aussie size 7 is about the upper limit of sizes where you have a big selection.
Depends too what sort of quality you are looking for - cheap and cheerful and lots of them - you%26#39;ll have no trouble - flats and high high heels every where, less choice in mid height heels (for women in the %26#39;prime%26#39; of their lives but no longer stick thin 16 year olds - those are usually our kids!!) try the various Parkson department stores.
Other clothes for women in their prime were harder to find - I%26#39;m a pretty standard size 12, but taller than average and clothes shopping was disappointing - made up for it with shoes though!!
Suria/KLCC was wonderful to look at. but I don%26#39;t go anywhere to justify genuine Jimmy Choo, Chloe or burberry. Copy bags in Petaling st and plenty of other places - go to Petaling st mid -late morning - plenty of stals to choose from - just not the crowds that are there at night.
happy birthday and happy shopping
Helen
Thanks everyone for your replies - will definately be following up on some of your suggestions. Only 2 and a half weeks till we leave so cant wait.
Hi
Suggest the al fresco dining at Jalan Alor. Lots of open air cheap restuarants, just pick the one you fancy.
Pick the busiest for obvious reasons.
Same goes for restuarants in China Town. They always manage to fit in an extra table somewhere.
We%26#39;ll be there for a few days at the end of the month and then on to Laos. We%26#39;ll do both Jalan Alor and China Town and probably one %26#39;posh%26#39; nosh, not decided yet.
You%26#39;ll love it !
