pills and potions help in langkawi for first timer pleaseHi
Weather is generally hot and sunny, with some rain / thunder.
Tanjung Rhu is a lovely resort - it is a remote location at one of the nicest beaches in Langkawi. If the hotel still offers the all-inclusive for food and non-alcholic drinks then take this option as it works out cheaper, as there is nothing to walk to at night outside the hotel.
Please do check with your GP/Travel Clinic who can give the best and acurate advise on injections and malaria. Having said that Malaria is not a problem in Langkawi, no malaria treatments needed. A good insect repellant is to avoid annoying and / or itchy bites. You will need to be up to date with Tetanus, and Hep A but your doctor can advise. We have travelled to Malayisa for many years and never had any issues or problems and usually take a small pack of usual remedies, headache tablets, intergestion, stuff to make you %26#39;go%26#39; and %26#39;stop%26#39;, and an anti itch potion for bites.
Have a great time.
Thanks for your replies i will have a word with my GP,can anyone suggest any other good resorts that%26#39;s maybe not as remote then ,after saying that i don%26#39;t mind remote
But it might be nice to get out and explore
Only done the Caribbean islands so this will be totally different
thanks
Hi
The Tanjung Rhu is a great choice of hotel, the beach there is stunning and one of my favourites on Langkawi.
As Mitch says, the hotel is quite remote and you are very tied to their restaurants unless you are going to hire a car for your stay.
If you want to be in the less remote places look at other hotels such as Pelangi, Casa del Mar, Beach Garden, Frangipani. These are all in the Pantai Cenang area and there are numerous restaurants, bars and shops nearby which you can go to.
However, if your heart is set on the Tanjung Rhu, you will not be disappointed.

Hi
The resorts of Tanjung Rhu, Four Seasons, Datai and Andaman are in the beautiful and less developed north of the island on remote beaches and are considered by some as the best hotels and beaches on the island.
The Tanjung Rhu is stunning and a wonderful location, the photos do not do it justice. As Lesley says, you will not be disapointed with the location or the hotel.
Some like the less remote beach of Pentai Cenang/Tengah (I love the Casa del Mar and Pelangi is also popular), which has more life away from the hotel with some restaurants etc, whilst the mid ground could be somewhere like Burau Bay (Steady Lesley loves the Berjaya) and adjoing Pentai Kok. Have a look at the various reviews on the left hand panel of Langkawi Hotels and see what takes your fancy.
Have fun!!
Having said that, Langkawi is easy to get round, car or scooter hire is cheap and safe. Taxis are reasonably priced, but we found they did %26#39;up%26#39; the prices for the remoter resorts.
hi all
i have been recommended that hotel that is the only reason i picked that but having priced it up it is expensive
forget to mention we would prob be there for 21 nights unless we did a twin center
we are not rich by any means but we have a job were we work 11 month and have 1 month off and because we live on site we would rather be away from the place for most of our holiday
thanks again

Dear Cubangirl,
21 days at Tanjung Rhu? Unless you are very much in love and don%26#39;t want to go out much, you will get bored! It is already relatively expensive, going out cost you minimum additional 50 Ringit per day! I would opt for a cheaper place closer to Cenang or Tengah. Maybe stay the last few days at T.Rhu for a special finishing.
Eva
HI
Totally agree with Eva. We spent 4 wonderful days there, but we found it too boring for us, and were glad to be heading to some where else. There is only so many walks along the beach and afternoon siestas you can cope with.
There are several locations in Langkawi, and Pentai Cenang gives more options.
Or, why not spend a week in Penang / Georgetown looking at the heritage there, enjoying the food, shopping etc, then get the ferry over to Langakwi (very cheap), and 2 weeks relaxing, spend a week at Pentai Cenang and then a week at the Tanjung Rhu.
Gives you the chance to see more of the island and Penang.
have a great one.
Thank you all for your advice and i totally agree with what you are saying so i am going to do more research into the place and widen my options.
will look at some of the other hotels mentioned.
many thanks

hi cuban, i wouldn%26#39;t book too early if cost is an issue. sometimes the price is better later. it can be difficult to get a quote this far in advance anyway. do look at berjaya we stay nearly 3 weeks and don%26#39;t get bored.
