now where was i ??? part 2

hiya all again, well we got to the bayview geopgetown at 7,30am after a trek from malacca overnight and low and behold was able to checkin right awaay wth no problems all the staff we,r smleing and no grumpy faces which i was suprrisd at seeing some of the revies on websites id read,so we goes up to the room which was on he 12th floor room 1204 faceing the sea and the room again was ok it was big with a tele fridge coffee making gear and the bathroom was also big and clean we showered and crashed as we had to meet patrick ung to order our glasses, so we went to kip for a while and decided to walk to patricks shop to see him but as we wer early he wasnt there but his girls foned him and we continued to pick 2 pairs of glasses and had our eye tests done and the glasses werr deliverred to our hotel the next day and i also had a set of lenses put in my own frames i had brought the service we got off patrick was first class,

during ourr sttay we walked to gurney plaza and to the sleeping budha up burma road and we also went to the old grave yard where sir francis light is buried att bottom of penang road and i have a warning that as we walked over to near his tomb we wer confronted by 3 guys hid down behind a very tight gap i presume doing drugs??? lets put it this way they wer up to no good in a gap of about 3foot by 2 foot believe me they wer not doing embroiderie?? we shifted quick smart out of there as there was only me an nicola in there, the 3rd day we wer there the american navy wer in town the uss new orleans, and it was parked right in front of our window in the sea very inconsiderate blocking my view we had loads staying in our hotel who wer well behaved the only trouble we had as wwith the lads with their kex hanging down their backsides with their hankys hanging out like club colours givin all the daft west side hang signals and givin it large their mouths wer disgusting a bar of carbolic wouldnt of gone amiss, thy wer in town around 4 days and the shore patrol wer about by the 3rd night!!

hey ho going for tea now before we hit batu ferringhi 2moz maggieomx

now where was i ??? part 2

Interesting Maggie - shame you did not let the police know about the druggies.

Or where they? The Grave yard does have 3 %26#39;caretakers%26#39; who cut the grass, clear up etc - maybe, they were doing a repair?

Anyway, for those who are interested, the old cemetary is well worth 10 or 15 minutes.

now where was i ??? part 2

Oh yes to graveyards, but no to druggies!!

now where was i, sorry i dint finish aabout the bayview hotel i found this hotel excellent ii chhecked in well early and reception was very busy and i thought go theyv all got faces like smacked bums now remember i was nackered so i went to te guy on reception called daniel smiled and hd the crack with him and hhe was so nice nothing was a problem for him and like i say i got a top room and before i hhad checked in we had all the girls on reception laughing and smileing, i believe its the way some people approach reception staff they get crap service back i must praise aall the staff at the bayview geaorgetown especilly the porters they wer absolute top guys we had a great laugh 10 times a day with them, i would defo go back to this hotel and i never saw any wildlife in the rooms at all, nothing ws a problem for anyone ever!!

we went up tp batu ferringhi a couple of times which was ann absolute loss the place has gone down so much since last february, the place was so scruffy and the beach was so dirty, many of the shhops have shut down and are boarded up and see thhem quad bikes i neaarly stuffed 1 up a girls jacksi!!! i was attempting to reaad away from her and when i sat down she decided to roar up and down just in front of me to winnd me up so i put up with it for 2 seconds and then i asked her politley to do one further up the beach where she had origanly been annoying people and she saw sense and moved!! this was up near baba guest house then we we,r told that a couple of days before a tourist minister had been and told all the bars and shacks near to baba and et guest house to be pulled down as they we,r built illegal and if they didnt comply they would do it and charge them we heard they are doing all the front up and spending 5 million on doing it up, we used to go to an indian resteraunt across from the main road down from the park royal and an internet cafe and they have gone as well, and a place i went for breki same shut down, also one of the bars i used on the beach had gone what a sickner!!but the lad we asked about te work to be done said it was well needed an they couldnt wait for the inprovements,

from batu ferringhi we went on to pangkor island, we got the 4.30 ferry over which had canged from last year it used to be ab old yellow ferry all enclosed and you had to sit inside its changed to a lovely white ferry where you can sit outside it was a lot bigger and faster,we went straight to nipah bay to ombok chalets which iv stayed at before we hadnt booked and the room i wanted was taken,so she showed us a massive big room with a double and 2 single beds in it with tele fridge and a/c and seperate bathroom / shower for MR80 for the 2 of us per night with breki!! you cant knock that and it was only 50 yards?? from the beach, the wole place is lovely and clean te beds and towels and bathroom was clean as well, the room was down a little flower decked alley very quaint, so quiet, we wer in heaven,we stayed there for 4 nights it was so peaceful the beach was heaven so clean and quiet and again the same minister had been and is spending millions on the beach front and they are going to promote the island more,

e ate at the horizon cafe on the front and had barbied fish and rice for our meals nothing flash, and had a couple of tigers and thats all we didnt do anything special just stayed on the beach and swam tthe rest was much needed, we didnt go anywhere apart from nipah bay as we had done it before, we did nothing but beach and bed!! this was a proper relaxing 4 nigt stay, next stop k.l, maggieomx

Sad to hear that even in 2 months things have really quietened much more.

hi maggie,

i%26#39;m heading back to penang next month, and one of the highlights is going to our two fav. restaurants. i%26#39;m worried that you%26#39;re suggesting that they are both closed.

firstly the indian restaurant thats closed, is that the one on the side street turning right, just after the parkroyal. it has the guy making roti%26#39;s at the entrance? that was my roti chani place for brekkie.

secondly, are you saying the bars and restaurants on the beach between the parkroyal and baba%26#39;s guest house are closed as well? we alway%26#39;s love going to the beach side cafe. where they sell beer and great seafood and watch the sunset.

';say it aint so maggie, say it aint.';

hiya jude no babas isnt closed its across from allthe guest houses on the beach they said had to come down the curry house your talking about is it the one on the corner? thats open on both corners but the little one as you turn right then its on the left as you go down has closed thats where i used to get my breki last year thats gone and the other indian i ment was if you come from the side street to main road and turn right then cross over thats closed down it was a big resteraunt all dark wood thats gone, just sat at the window watchin the planes come in and qatar air has just come in (sick as a parrot) maggieomx

sorry miss read the post (just going to give my head a wobble!!) back now!!

the guy making the rotis is he the 1 on the left in like a white marqee place i used to get my curry dhal and rotis for breki hes gone and the across from babas guest house there still there but they have been told they have to demolish the bars as you go on the beach from babas there wer 2 bars the locals said they have both 2 c;ose and kock down there bars, they we,r emptyanyway and the watersport that was in front has moved down the beach towards eden maggieomx

sad to hear that, so my favourite indian and the seafood beachside cafe have now closed.

so where would you reccomend to get good fresh roti in batu ferrengi, and a good local bar on the beach overlooking the ocean, thats not part of a hotel.

hiya jude i thought it was the same indian cafe you used as me the guy was youngish annd when he laughed he had a big laughin face he was tops iused to get my fresh roti and dhal there,

the beach side cafes hadnt closed when i was there they we,r told to demolish there shacks before the next week was out dont know if they had done it yet though??

as you cross to the beach from babas the shack on the left we used to eat and drink thereand have a laugh wit the staff but now theres a very sullen woman on her own serving there,we just had a drink and left it was so miserable we didnt eaat any rotis in b/f we had them at the bayview hotel in georgetown at reki they wer delish, maggieomx
